5 Why’s You Should Visit Dwejra in Gozo!

I just arrived from a short visit from Gozo which is our sister island (of Malta). With around 30,000 people living on this mesmerizing island that many are seeking not just to visit on their vacation but rather to live in there is simply amazing. There is something great about this island and especially you should go and visit Dwejra. One on the top spots in Gozo. I had the chance to visit my business partner Franco Buhagiar who lives in Gozo together with his family, it was a great experience. Well, here are 5 Why’s You Should Visit Dwejra in Gozo!

1. ‘The  Azure Window– Famous for ‘The Azure Window’… Dwejra is a hot spot. It has been mentioned to be one of the 7 Wonders of The World recently (I totally agree). The Azure Window had been among 77 most nominated sites vying for the title. There had been 440 nominations. The thing is that it is deteriorating and they say that it won’t be with us in the next 10 years due to heavy waters that are breaking this jewel up and there is nothing to do to stop it. In fact, a couple of months ago a giant piece of rock broke down… this will continue sadly :(.

2. Diver’s Heaven –  If you are a diver or you won’t yo experience diving, this is the place to be. Red corals at it’s best and it has been a spot for foreign divers to experience the beauty of it. Many said that there is another world under the waters of Dwejra. I haven’t experienced it yet. It is on my bucket list to dive in these waters.

3. Tranquility – I think everyone would love to be in a place far away from the city and noise. Well, this is the perfect place. Beautiful picturesque views with a mix of countryside and waters that you will never forget. Although tourists are flocking in… the zone is noise free. Perfect for hiking and walkabouts.

4. Boat trip – One can get a better and different perspective of Dwejra on a short boat trip. A great thing that this boat trip starts passing through a hole which is probably 11 storey’s high. I swam passed this hole found just beside the Window. The water is cold due to the shadows. Go for the Boat trip and do not even think to forget your camera 🙂

5. Hiking – Although you can drive or take the public transport to Dwejra, how about taking a walk or hike or getting a bike. Practically the weather is beautiful all year round in there and by organizing a packed lunch and add a bottle of water to that, you can enjoy a lovely hike in the country side towards Dwejra in Gozo.

It is one of the Top 10 sites you should visit if you ever come to Gozo.
